The cover letter is one of the most important aspects of your application. While employers use your resume to see your relevant job skills and experience, they rely on the cover letter to measure your personality, what can you bring to the company, and what your goals are.
When writing a cover letter for a specific company, you should demonstrate your familiarity with it. However, you shouldn’t submit generic cover letter that isn’t customized, or else you will show that you don’t care about them, and you are just looking for a job and a salary.
A cover letter includes the following sections:
• Header with date and contact information.
• Salutation or greeting.
• Opening paragraph.
• Middle paragraph(s).
• Closing paragraph.
• Letter ending and signature.
Your cover letter should be:
• One page in length.
• Use a simple, professional font, such as Times or Times New Roman.
• 10 to 12 points in size.
• Your letter should be left-aligned with single spacing one-inch margins.
